OUR STORY

Welcome to the Old Moseley Arms, a beautiful back street pub, hid away in Balsall Heath, Birmingham. We have lovely open fires in the colder months, 4 screens to show most sports, a large beer garden, a new function room and plenty of street parking.

We offer five real ale, four permanent ales that are constantly on Enville 4.5%, Church End Brewery Goats Milk 3.8%, Wye Valley Butty Bach 4.5%, Wye Valley HPA 4.0% plus a rotating guest ale.

We also offer Carling, Staropramen, San Miguel, Prava, Estrella, Guiness, Ansells Mild, Worthingtons, Stowford Press and Magners Dark Fruit.

We have a tandoori clay oven on 7 days a week, offering authentic Indian curry and mouth watering grills.

The Old Moseley Arms has won Birmingham CAMRA pub of the year 2013 and 2014. We have also been judged Finalist County Pub of the Year. You can also find us in the Good Beer Guide.

4.5% ABV

Based on a 19th century recipe, this traditional beekeepers ale is light in colour with fruity notes and a hint of sweetness to compliment the dry hoppy taste. Brewed using our own natural well water, Maris Otter floor malted barley, specially selected honeys and pure English hops, it is no surprise that our flagship Enville Ale has been a consistent CAMRA and beer festival award winner since we began brewing in 1993.

4.5% ABV

Butty Bach is a Welsh term meaning ‘little friend’ – and this charmingly smooth premium ale has certainly made more than a few friendships in its time. We brew it using Maris Otter and Crystal malts together with locally grown Fuggles, Goldings and Bramling Cross hops. With such fine ingredients, no wonder it remains a firm favourite.

3.8% ABV

Winner of the Supreme Champion Beer of Britain, 2017, at the Great British Beer Festival (GBBF). Golden yellow nectar. Pale barley, crystal malt and oats, blend to fill the palate with flavour. Aromatic hops dance over the tongue for a gentle hop finish. CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain 2019 Bronze Champion Strong Bitter Category.

4.0% ABV

HPA is an easy-going real ale that brings people together. Our brewers have let locally grown Target and Celeia hops hang out with Maris Otter pale malt to give this understated brew its pale straw colour, citrus hop aroma and a balanced bitter finish.

4.3% ABV

A straw-coloured bitter which initially seems sweet, but a complex dry, hoppy taste soon predominates. Probably the best example of the traditional Black Country style of bitter. No better partner to a lunchtime snack!

Fabulous hidden gem Visited on a Sunday evening en route to a gig. A lovely unspoiled pub with many original features in a multi room layout. Ordered a selection of starters which were very good and generous in size accompanied by dips. Washed down with an immaculately kept pint of goat’s milk. Also tried the Batham’s which was also excellent. Will definitely visit again.

Best Pub in Birmingham Perfect example of what Birmingham has to offer and why the Commonwealth Games where a meteoric success , this establishmentis really is the best pub iv visited from Glasgow, Australia Germany, London to the USA and beyond. Moving to a new city always makes me trepidatious but fears where instantly alleviated by the extremely friendly team here at the old moseley arms , from day one I was made to feel at home and very much part of the family . I can't express my thanks to all staff here for making a nomadic worker feel at home . Prices for both food and drink are fantastic and they should really increase even just for the atmosphere

Good beer and food, friendly service, can't fault the Old Mo! A regular haunt for my family. An old fashioned pub that is well run and has recently been sympathetically extended. Always a good selection of well kept real ale with the added bonus of restaurant quality Indian food being served. Personally I love a pint of Enville with spicy food, so this is one of my favourite places to eat. There is a wide selection of food and I've tried many dishes, nothing has ever disappointed.

Hidden gem. Hidden away down a side street in Balsall Heath, this is the place to go if you want to avoid the Moseley clique or the new Digbeth ‘art’ bars. Well kept real ale, amazing staff and you’re made to feel like a regular on your first visit. Haven’t tried the food yet, but check out other reviews. Brilliant place!

Best pub in Birmingham Really great pub that ticks every box. The owner, Suki is a genuine, decent, great bloke. He really takes a pride in his business. The bar staff, efficient and really nice, especially Lindsey and Vic. The beer, this is a real ale pub with guest ales, all served to a high standard. A good selection, something for everyone. Food, have never tried one of their curries, but they look great and there is an amazing selection of dishes. Competitively priced too! The clientele, civilised and friendly. Women feel comfortable coming here. Never even a hint of trouble. What more can i say.?

Only my second experience of a desi pub in Brum, the other being Hen & Chickens (shared a mixed grill, it was fantastic). Five of us shared food, including poppadoms, mixed grill, four types of curry, and naans. Food was pretty good and would go again. Nice staff too, with a cracking real fire in the main bar. Give it a try.
